Good morning Substack subscribers. I simply want to update you on the little girl whose feet were so badly burned, but before that, let me thank you for your prayers!! God is working His purpose out!!
As is sometimes the case in Madagascar, this little girl's parents needed to be convinced of the merits of allowing their daughter to be taken to see a doctor. Most Malagasy people rely upon their own indigenous ingenuity and experience when in need of health care. Doctors are for the rich, and in this particular case the child's parents were quite nervous about trusting a doctor. This is a sad but honorable perspective.
We are very accustomed to doctors and hospitals and emergency rooms, but this is not the case for most in Madagascar. It took some time for the Cathedral Catechist (to whom I owe a great debt of gratitude!) to convince this little girl's parents that a visit to the doctor was in her best interest. One of my doctor friends in Canada who saw the pictures of this little girl's feet wrote to me immediately about the fear of infection, and of the grievous reality of what could happen to this little girl.
By God's grace he was able to convince them, and so early this morning she was taken to see the doctor at the hospital where she has been admitted. I ask your fervent prayers for her and for her parents who have never stayed in the hospital before. They are filled with anxiety. Pray that the ministry which we are providing, and the care that the doctors and nurses are providing, will be used for the glory of God.
At this point I have no idea what the cost of this will be, but I have, as an act of faith, said that we will fund these expenses. I am praying, and I ask you to pray that our intervention will be the means of her healing, and that there will be grace upon grace for her and for her parents.
Yes this is wonderful news indeed
Wonderful news! Thanks be to God!
