Bishop's House
Emergency Repair Update
Except the Lord build the house – they labour in vain who build it!
A short time ago, I wrote a Substack post about an emergency situation involving the old Bishop’s House. What initially appeared to be a straightforward roof replacement quickly revealed a more serious problem. Once the contractors removed the existing roof, they discovered significant structural damage to the building itself.
I am not a contractor and have very little experience with construction, but even I can see from the pictures that repairs to the concrete structure are essential before a new roof can be installed. The house, I am told, is more than 100 years old, and there are several structural issues which needs to be addressed.
As an act of faith, I have asked the contractor to proceed with the necessary repairs so that the building can be made sound before the new roof is added. As an act of faith, I am writing this article hoping that someone reading it will be able to offset the cost of these necessary structural repairs. The cost is expected to be approximately $2,000 US.
