This morning at church a little girl was brought to me with two very severely burned feet. Accidentally, a pot of boiling hot water had been spilled over her feet. In all honesty, I'm not sure I've seen a more horrific sight. A precious, pretty little 8-year-old girl. She was brought to me so that I might pray for her. I'm writing this brief note to ask that you would do the same. (Please forgive the image -but I feel you need to see it so that you can pray.)
I arranged for the Vicar-General and the Diocesan Administrator to ensure that she receives medical care and that we would find the funds to cover the cost. As you pray for her, pray as well for her family who no doubt are themselves feeling awful because of this accident.
These are the situations that make me mad - furiously angry. We in the West have doctors and ambulances and emergency rooms, and here in Madagascar these things are reserved for the wealthy alone, and it infuriates me.
Would you join me in praying for this little girl and her family? Would you join me in praying that the Lord will raise up a Christian president and government for this nation who will serve not their own needs but for the sake of the poorest people? Would you join me in praying that I would have the wisdom to know what is my responsibility as a Bishop in this particular place in this particular time?
Bless you and thank you in advance for your prayers.
Of course, Bishop Darrell, I will pray, along with my wife and members of the prayer chain at Christ the King, Edmonton. When you share a need like this young girl’s affliction, I would appreciate the opportunity to provide some funding toward the cause. I can afford to donate $100. I know that $100. can go a long way in your diocese to assist with special needs. And if 10 people donate $100., I am sure $1,000. will go a very long way. Have you established some way of donating to these special needs of your diocese. I am wondering whether a Canada Helps account might work? Blessings.
